Plasma enzymes in tumor-bearing rats.

چکیده
The plasma enzymes, lactic dehydrogenase, glutamic oxalacetic transaminase, and malic dehydrogenase, increased pro gressively in tumor-bearing rats. The amount of increase varied markedly with the type of tumor and the site of implantation. A lactic dehydrogenase agent could not be demonstrated in any of these animals. Isozyme patterns indicated the tumor was a significant contributor to the increased lactic dehydrogenase in the plasma of these rats. The plasma lactic dehydrogenase was increased less in animals that bore a tumor contaminated with bacteria. The clearance rate of lactic dehydrogenase was slower than normal in tumor-bearing rats, and it decreased progressively with tumor growth.

The effect of lymphoma and other neoplasms on hepatic and plasma enzymes of the host rat.
Considerable thymidine kinase and pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase activities were found in the plasma of rats bearing a transplanted lymphoma; neither activity was detected in plasma of hosts carrying hepatic, renal, mammary, or submaxillary gland tumors. All host livers exhibited signs of biochemical immaturity as indicated by the appropriate increases or decreases in the concentrations of t...
متن کاملAcid hydrolase activity in the leukocytes of tumor-bearing rats.
Acid hydrolase activities were measured in separated lymphocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes, and the total leukocyte population of normal and tumor-bearing rats. Only aryl sulfatase activity of the lymphocytes from tumor-bearing rats was significantly increased. Those showing significant decreases in tumor bearers were cathepsin in polymorpho nuclear leukocytes and ß-galactosidaseand acid p...
متن کاملThe enzymology of the formation and interconversion of labile 1-carbon groups in five hepatomas and in Walker tumor 256.
dehydrogenase, and formylase, all involved in the metabolism of I-carbon and related compounds, were determined in the cytoplasmic fractions of 5 rat hepatomas, Walker tumor 256, and livers of tumor-bearing rats. The hepatomas studied included the Novikoff, H-35, and Morris 7800, 7777, and 5123D hepatomas. The activities of virtually all enzymes studied were significantly decreased in hepatomas...
متن کاملSequential changes in the activities of lipoprotein lipase and lipogenic enzymes during tumor growth in rats.
The sequential changes in lipid metabolism during tumor growth were evaluated in inbred Lewis rats bearing a mammary adenocarcinoma (AC33). Serum lipids, insulin, glucagon, and liver and adipose tissue lipogenic enzymes were measured in tumor-bearing and control rats after 6, 12, 18, 24, and 32 days of tumor growth. Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activity in heart, soleus muscle, and epididymal fat p...
متن کاملAminotransferase activities and involution of the thymus in rats bearing AH 130 tumors.
Involution of the thymus was observed in rats bearing AH 130 (solid-type) tumors. The thymus weight decreased with tumor growth. Daily injection of a pharmacological dose of hydrocortisone into normal rats resulted in involution of the thymus and marked increase in alanine aminotransferase activity. This treatment also caused slight increase in the activity of tyrosine aminotransferase but not ...
